What we publish
State by state rules for private wells, county pages with local well data, profiles of state-certified drinking water laboratories, profiles of licensed well drillers and pump installers, and plain-language guides to the common problems: smells, stains, pressure, bacteria, nitrate, arsenic and the rest.
Where the data comes from
Contractor listings are built from each state’s official licensing or certification list and carry the license number, status and the date we last matched it against the state record. Lab listings come from each state’s certified drinking water laboratory program. Household and population figures come from the U.S. Census and state well surveys. Rules and testing guidance come from the state agency that publishes them, and every state page links to the source so you can check it.
What we are not
We are not a laboratory, a contractor or a regulator. A listing here is a record that a business holds a license or certification on a given date; it is not a review or an endorsement. Contractors can claim their profile to add details, and a paid featured placement is marked as such.
How the site is funded
Some links to test kits and treatment systems are affiliate links, and contractors can pay for a featured listing. Neither changes what a page says. Our affiliate disclosure explains the details.
